Wealth Management Advisor / Founder, Apollon New England
Justin Coffin, JD, LLM, CFP®
Justin’s life and my professional career have been driven by curiosity. Engaged by political philosophy in undergraduate education and fascinated by the role of laws in shaping society, Justin attended law school and received a JD from the University of Maine School of Law. With a desire to explore as many areas of the law as possible he joined a law firm in Rockland, Maine that had been started by his grandfather and, at the time, was still run by his Uncle. Justin learned firsthand not just the theory, but the practice of real estate law, civil litigation, business law and trusts, and estate planning and administration.
Fascinated by the outsized role the tax code played in many areas of law, Justin joined a regional accounting firm and undertook to learn all that he could about tax planning through practice and academia. While managing a book of diverse business, nonprofit, and estate planning clients, he completed his studies at the BU School of Law and received and LLM in Taxation.
With a growing interest in Trusts and Estates planning, with its regular overlap with business and not-for-profit work, Justin spent a brief period working at a boutique Trusts and Estates law firm in Portland, Maine before finding his home with his current team; a place where his curiosity and interest in all things planning can find an endless array of client goals and needs to explore and cultivate critical observations and solutions.
Leaving the “wirehouse” world for more independence as a Founding Partner at Apollon New England was spurred by that same curiosity and drive to uncover and implement finely crafted planning opportunities for clients.
When he is not reading the tax code or indulging his inner nerd in a spreadsheet, you will find him with his wonderful wife and two amazing kids mucking about in nature and indulging our own curiosities about the world writ large.
